This Privacy Policy explains how SageLens, based in Algeria ("we", "our", or "the App"), processes and protects information when you use our website and language-learning application.
1. Information We Collect
Audio Data
Audio is processed transiently in memory and transmitted to contracted speech-processing providers only when you use voice features. SageLens does not store or retain the original audio.
Account Data
Email address, display name, and account identifiers provided during registration or third-party sign-in.
User Content & Learning Data
Conversation messages, voice transcripts, AI responses, lesson progress, quiz results, learning statistics, and performance information.
Technical & Usage Data
We automatically collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser/device type, interaction logs, and how you navigate the App and website. We use your IP address only to estimate your approximate region, not precise location.
Subscription Data
Subscription status and transaction identifiers. Payment credentials are processed directly by payment providers.
2. How We Use Your Information & Legal Bases
- Contract: To create and administer accounts, process voice and text conversations requested by you, provide personalised learning features, and manage subscriptions.
- Legitimate interests: To secure SageLens, prevent fraud and misuse, diagnose errors, maintain stability, and perform necessary service analytics.
- Consent: To send optional notifications and use non-essential analytics or similar technologies where consent is required by law.
- Legal obligations: To comply with accounting, tax, and other applicable legal requirements.
3. Third-Party Services
We use service providers to operate SageLens, including providers of cloud infrastructure, authentication, payments, communications, analytics, security, and speech and AI processing. These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary to perform their services and are subject to contractual privacy and security obligations. Certain providers, such as payment providers, may also process information under their own privacy notices.
4. Data Deletion & Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy:
- Account & progress data: Retained while your account is active and deleted from active systems immediately when account deletion is completed, except where retention is required by law.
- Conversation data: Retained for up to 90 days after creation, or until account deletion, whichever occurs first.
- Audio data: Processed transiently and not stored or retained by SageLens.
- Technical & usage data: Retained only as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, diagnose, and improve SageLens, then deleted or anonymised.
- Subscription data: Retained only for legally required accounting and tax periods.
- Backups: Deleted information may remain securely in disaster recovery backups for up to 30 days before being permanently overwritten.

5. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:
- Access or receive a copy of your data.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and data.
- Withdraw consent, where applicable.
You can manage most data directly within the App or by contacting us.
Security and cross-border transfers
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and, where applicable, encryption at rest. No electronic transmission or storage method is completely secure.
International transfers: Some service providers may process information outside Algeria. We make such transfers only where legally permitted and use the safeguards or authorisations required by applicable law.
